In a small town in Indiana a father with five young sons witnessed health struggles faced by his wife, the love of his life, a person he valued more than himself. She eventually improved, but life still had challenges of various kinds. As the sons grew older, whenever they asked their dad how he was doing, Jack Bollier often had the same response, “Just right for now.”
Those four simple words turned out to be incredibly empowering. They were an affirmation: even amid great suffering, we are not lost. We can remember to take a breath. And once we do, we can find contentment and thankfulness. And with that foundation we can take a step forward. And then another. “Just right for now” is a reminder that even amid hardship, we can be thankful for whatever ability we to have to persevere, to find joy and to make life better for ourselves and those around us.
Phil has been a husband, father and coach for more than four decades. With the collaboration, encouragement and support from his wife of 39 years, Stephanie, their four sons, and their extended family he’s had the chance to help shape many lives while coaching. His coaching experiences have been in high schools and middle schools in Indiana, Florida and Georgia. He’s led basketball camps and teams in the U.S. and other nations. His goal was never to just teach basketball. It was to encourage hope in others and help them find ways to help those around them.
Through basketball, JRFN teaches young people how to build lifelong relationships and develop leadership traits. Our aim is to help students learn how to have hope in their lives and encourage hope in the lives of those around them.
Just Right For Now is organizing basketball teams of high school varsity players from the metro Atlanta area. They will participate in a weeklong tour overseas made up of practices, basketball games, and cultural activities. Players will be mentored and guided in opportunities to hone basketball skills, while also learning leadership traits, and strategies for how to interact well with others. The players with the encouragement of mentors will come up with ideas to take what they have learned to help others upon their return.
